Geraldine Jordan – Iron Woman

A local mum of three took on one of triathlon’s toughest challenges last weekend, completing a half ironman – a total distance of 70.3 miles. Geraldine Jordan, age 48 from West Acre, entered The Grafman event held at Grafham water in Cambridgeshire having only taken part in two sprint triathlons last year. Geraldine had to swim 2.2 miles in open water, bike 56 miles and finish with a half marathon of 13.1 off-road miles. She completed the event in 6 hours 19 minutes putting her third in her age category, a result she was thrilled with. “It was a great event and I’m really happy to have finished in that time. I was hoping for 7.30 but it all just came together on the day.” Geraldine praised her coaching she had received from swim coaches Steve and Gaby Balls at King’s Lynn Triathlon Club as well as acknowledging her own hard training efforts over the past six months. “The Swim was fab, one degree warmer than Leziate so that was a nice surprise.
