King’s Lynn Triathlon Club is proud to announce we are starting to hold Turbo sessions in the King’s Lynn and West Norfolk area. Sessions will take place at Leziate Village Hall on the outskirts of King’s Lynn. You will need your own bike/turbo trainer to take part in the session. The club may purchase some turbo trainers in the future to rent out. These sessions are a great way to build up and improve your cycling during the winter months. Some people confuse them with spin classes but a turbo session is great work out in its own right, especially on your own equipment. Check out the training schedule for when the turbo sessions are taking place.
If you haven’t been to the Tri Harder shop in Dereham, check it out. They are a triathlon specific store based in Norfolk and not a million miles away from us so they are worth a look. They also have an online store which can be found here. “The Pedal Clinic” is based at Tri Harder in Dereham and is a new concept for the area. They are having an open day on Feb 2nd 2013 from 10am til 3pm. The Pedal Clinic offers fitness and technique testing, Personal Training and coaching to Cyclists and Triathletes. You can read more about the event here.
The current snow is causing havoc with local training and some events are being cancelled. Our usual weekend bike ride has been cancelled this week. It’s too dangerous to go on the roads in their current ice/snow state. With more snow and freezing conditions forecast we thought it would be wise to cancel it this week. We have a special run session lined up for the 19th January, which is tomorrow. Due to the Parkrun cancellation and the ground too dangerous in The Walks, we have moved this Bawsey Pits on the outskirts of King’s Lynn. This will be held off road. The session will start at 9am, please meet in the car park and after a gentle warm up we will do some hill work. Please only travel if you feel safe to do so and can get home. Also only take part if you feel happy running in snow and possible ice. Please wear warm and sensible clothing. Cross Country running shoes are recommended.
Our first swim session has taken place as a club and and it went well! We had a group of 15 swimmers hitting the water at 6.15am at the St James’ pool in King’s Lynn. We had a variety of different levels attend and the sessions were run very well by the two coaches. We had lots of different drills and tips to help improve the swimmers techniques. People seemed to leave happy commenting they had been pushed further than they would have been if alone. We hope those that came continue to attend and we get some new swimmers! This would allow us to look at holding other sessions at different times/venues.
We are pleased to announce we are now starting our club training sessions. You can take a look at our one off and recurring sessions at this page: http://www.kingslynntriathlonclub.co.uk/diary/club-training/ We will be building an online section like the Events page to handle these events in future weeks. It is quite a lot of work so please be patient!
